What's new
Every build, newest first. Beta builds arrive through TestFlight; the number is the one on the Settings screen.
Build 15 — October 2026
- How far apart your services really are. Open a service record and Since the last one shows the miles and time since the previous one of the same kind — how far that tank of DEF went, how long since the last oil change — with your average underneath. Filter Service History to one type and the average sits at the top. No trip meter to reset.
- Are you on schedule? On the Service Due list, each schedule with two or more records compares your real average with the interval you set: on schedule, a little sooner or later, or well sooner or later.
- Truck-stop invoices scan. A receipt laid out as a table — Quantity, Unit Cost, Total over a row of numbers — now fills in gallons and price, checked against the total. A receipt that adds up is never told to retake. And a store that sells another company's fuel is saved under its own name, not the fuel brand's.
- The correction helper takes several drives. Two drives rarely agree to the tenth, because a trip meter only shows tenths. Add a few and the answer combines them by distance, as if they were one long drive. Thanks to Chris C.
- A fill-up says what the car counted when an odometer correction is on, beside the true miles its MPG uses, so 319 next to a trip meter that said 310 explains itself. Thanks to Chris C.
- Merge stations from a list. On the Stations page, swipe a station that got scanned two ways and choose Merge, then pick the right one. Your most-used stations come first, and nobody has to type a name exactly.
- No receipt? Photograph the pump. Dipstick won't read the display, so type the numbers in, but the photo stays with the fill-up as its record, and the app no longer suggests the shot was bad.
Build 14 — October 2026
- Odometer correction. For a car that counts short — 58 on the dash for a 60-mile drive — Vehicle Settings takes how far it reads low, or works it out from a drive you know, and MPG and cost per mile use true miles. The odometer you type, service reminders and exports stay on the car's own number. Thanks to Chris C.
- Show Insurance Card / Show Registration Card when you press and hold a garage card, for whichever cards the vehicle holds. Full screen, full brightness, nothing to switch on.
- A Fuelly history logged by trip meter — no odometer column at all — now imports: the readings are added up from each tank's distance, and the preview asks what the odometer showed at the last fill-up so they line up with your car. Fuelly's "Volkswagen Golf Alltrack" model cell is split into make and model.
- Help links to the guide. Every answer under Settings → How do I… ends with More in the guide, which opens the matching section of the user guide, pictures and all.
- Exports, tidied. An AirDropped spreadsheet now arrives under its own name instead of text-….txt; a spreadsheet from a car with an odometer correction says so in its last column; and two fill-ups logged on one day come out in odometer order.
Build 13 — October 2026
- No sign-in. The Sign in with Apple screen is gone; the app opens straight into the garage. It never needed an account, and now it doesn't pretend to.
- Press and hold a garage card for Log Fill-up and Log Service. Reordering by drag is back, and it works on the first try.
- Receipt scanning is more sure of itself. It reads the stored copy first and only goes to the full-size shot when the numbers don't add up; a garbled station name snaps to the one you already have saved; and "retake the photo" only appears when a retake would actually help.
- Trip miles are a segmented switch on the fill-up form, and you can swipe down to dismiss the keyboard.
- A fill-up logged out of order — this morning's after this afternoon's — gets a question instead of a red block.
- Numbers the way you type them: a pasted "198,475" or "$45.00" reads correctly, and so does a comma-decimal keypad.
- Importing from another app sets aside a row whose odometer runs backwards (a typo in a run of 112,000s) and tells you how many; the Add Vehicle screen now shows exactly what will be added.
- Reminders say the year when a service or a lapsed policy is more than a year overdue, and the preview in Settings is the next one that will really be sent. Settings also says plainly when iOS has notifications switched off.
- Sharing: a card or receipt you change on your phone is never undone by the other phone's older copy; a vehicle shared with you says "Shared with you" (only its owner can pass it on); deleting a shared-in car for good leaves the share; an invitation that fails to open is retried and explained.
- Faster: the fuel log, garage cards and vehicle page do a fraction of the work they did per redraw, exports read receipts only when you export, and syncing no longer downloads every photo on every pass.
- Recently Deleted has Restore All and Delete All Now under its ⋯ menu, each asking first.
- Small things: delete confirmations are a centred alert instead of a bubble; the schedules screen after adding a car says Skip; an electric vehicle is never offered a fill-up; "1 fill-ups" is "1 fill-up".
- Settings links here — "What's new in this version" under About opens this page at the build you're on — and to the user guide.
- The user guide is online at dipstickcarcare.com/guide, with screenshots you can click to read.
Build 12 — October 15, 2026
- Log by trip meter. Vehicle Settings → Fill-up Mileage → Trip miles: type what the trip meter says and the odometer works itself out. A tester's idea.
Build 11 — October 13, 2026
- The example garage behaves on a fresh install.
Build 10 — October 13, 2026
- Bring your history in from Fuelly, Fuelio, Drivvo or Simply Auto — a spreadsheet export becomes fill-ups and service records, or a whole new car with its details.
- "Missed last fill-up" on a fill-up, so a tank you forgot to log doesn't double the next one's MPG.
- The new iOS 26 look.
Build 9 — September 11, 2026
- Fuel grade per fill-up, remembered from last time.
- A first-run tour, and a searchable "How do I…" in Settings.
- Recently Deleted never removes anything while the app sat closed through its warning.
- The detour calculator shows distances.
Build 8 — September 9, 2026
- Export with receipts: the fuel log or service history as a spreadsheet zipped with every receipt photo.
- Worth the detour? — whether cheaper fuel across town pays for the drive, on the vehicle page.
- Step through records with arrows; the odometer refuses a reading below the last one; a scanned price that can't be right gets a warning.
Build 7 — September 2, 2026
- Share a vehicle with the person who also drives it — history, schedules, glovebox cards, both ways.
- Who did the work on a service: you, a shop, the dealer — and what it cost at each.
- Read the service schedule straight out of the owner's manual PDF.
